A digital home for many professional lives
I am José Ángel Heras: a vocational IT teacher, a physicist by training, a former marine geophysicist and a cross-disciplinary professional working across data, science, teaching, the web, security and artificial intelligence.
For years I have moved between applied science, data, cartography, web development, technical documentation, security, teaching and artificial intelligence. Not as a collection of badges, but because my path has crossed a fair number of different crafts, tools and problems.
This website exists to bring all of that into some order without turning it into a cardboard shop window. I prefer to think of it as a habitable house: several rooms, a degree of order, and no pretence of a perfection that does not interest me.
I do not want a website that tries to look perfect. I want one that is clear, honest, useful and maintainable.
The teaching, technical, exploratory and more deliberately written parts of my work all live here. If the site works, it should become clear quite quickly that this is not an inflated business card, but a long, cross-disciplinary career that is still very much active.

These are not sealed compartments. They are four reasonable ways into the same body of work.
Learn
Materials, assignments, presentations and teaching projects for vocational IT education.
This is where resources on programming, security, systems, networks, web development, sustainability, Git, GitHub Classroom and, more generally, everything that deserves a clear explanation in class without smoke or wasted time will live.
Build
Repositories, prototypes, websites, automations, useful tools and technical projects.
This will not be a repository dumping ground or a showcase for technical fireworks. The aim is to select only what explains how I work and why certain pieces deserve to remain visible.
Explore
Data, science, artificial intelligence, OSINT, visualisation, cartography, notebooks, scripts and experiments.
A place to try things, be wrong with a degree of method, learn something along the way and leave a trace when the result is worth keeping.
Write
Notes, criticism, reflections, working notebooks and cross-disciplinary thought.
A blog about technology, teaching, AI, science, digital culture, reading and the occasional detour when the subject calls for one. With no obligation to sound solemn.
What this site is
Digital Home is not here to erase my earlier sites or pretend that I started today. It is here to connect them, bring some order to what was scattered and give it a clearer front door.
